The comic musical “Chasing two hares” is a bright dynamic spectacle with elements of satirical grotesque. The actions and lines of the characters are full of irresistible humor and sarcastic colors.

The special atmosphere of the action is created by the musical background, composed of original song compositions, imbued with subtle jokes and funny hints. An additional laughable effect is caused by the sarcastic talking of the actors, which reflects the cultural specificity of the bourgeoisie, its social limitations and ignorance.

Since the first premiere in Kyiv on November 4, 1883, Mykhailo Starytskyi’s work has been a huge success and has undergone dozens of stage interpretations. Meanwhile, despite the changing theatrical fashion, the play “Chasing two hares” did not lose the spirit of the nationality and remains extremely close and understandable to a wide type of audience.
