Luhansk Regional Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater invites you to the performance “Who am I?” 16+. Based on the play “Ugly” by Marius von Mayenburg, translated by Natalka Sniadanko, a modern tragicomedy in one act.

Marius von Mayenburg is one of the most famous modern German playwrights. His works are staged in the world’s leading theaters. The author appeared on the Ukrainian stage not so long ago. The play “Ugly” is a fairly rhythmic text, an attractive form, a multi-layered theme and – no answer.

Do you like your face? And if it was ugly, would you dare to have surgery to change it? Do not rush to answer clearly…

Lette works as an engineer in a large company. He does not get permission to present his invention at the congress because he has an ugly face. His assistant Karlman should speak in his place. Lette dares to undergo plastic surgery, which ends surprisingly well, but the consequences of the changes are unexpected.

Is my personality important? Am I just a reflection of what others see in me? What is the value of a person? Are mass opinion, social norms, standards influencing her actions? What do the modern rules of existence dictate? It is worth talking about it…
