The modern British playwright Duncan McMillan probably had no idea that his play “LUNGS”, which has many professional awards, would one day be shown in the basement of the Sumy National Theater. However, the realities of war dot the i’s and cross the t’s. The performance did come to the audience from difficult conditions. Because this is where it is safest to show it. And, most importantly, life suggested an interesting idea – to create an experimental stage in a protected room – a kind of platform for the implementation of daring plans.

This is how an interesting artistic phenomenon arose, which united everything at once – a sharp play, an extraordinary production, a passionate performance of actors and a cohort of spectators who missed the theater.

“Lungs” is about how difficult it is to breathe fully if you are hindered by various social phobias. Their own selfishness and lack of communication with a loved one do not allow them to overcome their resistance. Only love, as always, helps to feel free and breathe fully.

Stage-director Vladyslav Pysarev says that he took up the work because he considers it very topical. In many respects, the themes raised in the dramatic material coincide with his personal experiences. One of the topics that inevitably arises before most young families is the question of having a child. What sacrifices must be made in order to have a small creature in the family? Is it worth doing this when life around is already difficult? And in general, why give birth to a child when the planet “rolls into the abyss”?

Tense and sometimes nervous dialogues between “HE” (Vladislav Pisarev) and “SHE” (Kristina Zohrabian) sometimes turn into a real scandal sprinkled with harsh swearing. Over time, the rhythm becomes moderate and the conversation hangs on long pauses, only to pick up a frantic pace again.

Vladyslav Pisarev began the stage-director’s understanding of the text of the play even before the start of hostilities, however, now this material, in his opinion, has gained even greater sharpness.
